Generalizing Lamport’s Byzantized Paxos, we present the first consensus algorithm with heterogeneous failures, heterogeneous participants, and heterogeneous observers: everyone decides for themselves with whom they must agree, under which failure conditions. We demonstrate our implementation using Charlotte blockchains.
