How to assemble USRP with BasicRX/BasicTX daughterboards

Add "feet"

The USRP doesn't (yet) come ready assembled in a box, so when you get it from FedEx, it looks approximately like this:

Four of the 20 metal studs (or whatever you call them.. can you tell I've been building walls lately? :-) is used as the "feet" of the USRP. It's not recommended to use it without these, so do that first; simpy install the male (use your imagination here) ends of the studs into the 4 holes at the edges of the main board from below. Fasten with the provided nuts. You should end up with something vaguely like this (from below):

Add mounts for the BasicRX

Use 4 more of the metal studs as securing mounts for the Basic RX board. This is done by inserting the male bits of the studs from above (relative to where the feet are) into the 4 wholes surrounding the RXA daughterboard mount on the main USRP board. Secure with nuts from below. Picture from above with power/USB port showing at the bottom:

Mount and secure BasicRX

Next mount the BasicRX board. Make sure the mounts and the wholes in the daughterboard align before you squeeze the the board in place. Same picture as above with Basic RX mounted:

Now simply secure with the screws provided:

Mount and secure BasicTX

Now repeat the above steps with the BasicTX in the slot marked TXA above (if the USB cable is at the bottom) the RXA slot. Again make sure the wholes in the daughterboard aligns with the mounts you've just added:

When you're done you should end up with something roughly like the below. All you need to do know is make the GNU radio software run.
