I now ONLY check my email twice a day, at 12:00 and 16:00, Monday to Friday.

Why?

I get a fair amount of email; at last count I get on average about 50 emails every working day that requires me to take some action. Although this isn't an overwhelming amount, the problem is that my email trickles in throughout the day so I rarely go even 10 minutes without an email coming in.

The way my mind works is to totally immerse myself in whatever I'm doing, which is impossible if I stop to respond to emails every 10 minutes. The result is that I get nothing done. I also find that I'm able to respond more thoughtfully to any emails you may send, and am less likely to loose your email in my inbox with the above policy.

Anyway, here's my email address: einar@cs.cornell.edu (DSA public key)(RSA public key). If you need to get a hold of me urgently (and to avoid my sometimes aggressive spam filter), the best way is to ring me: My cell phone number is +1-607-280-8608. Being a teenager in the 90's I have my phone with me almost wherever I go. It may be turned off of course, but feel free to leave a voicemail. You can also try my office phone at +1-607-255-7573, or fax me at +1-607-255-4428 (please remember to add my name to the cover sheet).

Students outside Cornell, please read:
Unfortunately I am not in a position to admit students, answer questions about likelihood of admittance to Cornell, funding opportunities with Cornell if accepted, nor can I host student projects for non-Cornell students (full-time, part-time or for the summer).
