A Comprehensive Framework for Geolocalization on the Internet

GeoLocalization

This is a demo of the Octant technology. The demo uses only a limited set of latency measurements for localization. We have implemented other techniques for achieving high fidelity localization information that are not part of the demo yet. Our techniques can be used to localize any node in the network, and are a factor of 3 more accurate than previous approaches.

The current demo requires the target to respond to ICMP ECHO requests and to be located in the US. Nodes situated outside the US will result in very high localization error due to our current selection of landmarks. Retrying queries may improve the accuracy as additional latency information is collected on each retry.

-> Screenshots Screen captures of a few interesting query results. The targets are selected to be far away from our landmarks.
