Using FrontPage 98
Explorer vs. Editor

FrontPage
Explorer &
Editor
Microsoft FrontPage has two parts: FrontPage Explorer and FrontPage Editor. It is important to distinguish between these two tools, because they have very different functions and capabilities.

FrontPage Explorer is an interface for dealing with web sites saved on a web server running Windows NT IIS. Within the FrontPage Explorer, you can open a web site, control permissions, move files around, and open and delete files. The Explorer interface does not edit text or image files--it simply allows you to control them. Also, you cannot use the Explorer to manipulate web files saved on a Unix server.

FrontPage Editor is a graphic HTML editor. You can open and edit HTML files using this tool, whether they are saved on an NT web server, on a Unix web server, or on a hard drive. The "graphic" part means that, while you can edit the HTML code directly, the "Normal" view allows you to create HTML with an interface that works much like a word processor.
