Microsoft

The project originated with a call for proposals from Intel for their Technology for Education 2000 grant program.  Cornell University's $6.0 million proposal was funded under this program.  Grantees were announced by Intel in a press release on August 18, 1997.  Intel also maintains some general information about the overall grant program.

As of April 1, 1998, Intel has donated equipment and cash grants valued at a total of $1,652,741 toward the $6.0 million three year project.  Details on the specific equipment for each project and a summary of equipment donations can be found on the Intel donations page.

In coordination with Intel's grant of equipment, Microsoft has agreed to provide a grant of software, including Windows NT™ 4.0 Workstation and Server, Visual Studio 97, and Office 97 Professional.  Details of Microsoft's donations can be found on the Microsoft donations page.
