Henceforth, "Simeon's on the Commons" shall be referred to as "The other Simeon's, the one on the Commons". I hope you will understand the need for this change to avoid any possible confusion with my house.
From Ithaca and surroundings. You probably know the area much better than I do so you are on your own... Okay, perhaps that is a little mean, you might find the map useful and maybe the second paragraph below.
From the North (Syracuse etc.). I take I81 south to the Homer exit, go though the outskirts of Cortland, and then through McLean and Freeville on NY366. Check out a map since I don't know the directions well enough to write them down. NY366 will dump you out onto NY13 which goes past Ithaca airport before descending toward Ithaca with Cayuga lake on your right (W).
As you get into Ithaca, NY13 splits into two one-way streets. Follow the south-bound fork until you get to Seneca St., turn R following signs for NY79 west. On Seneca St. you'll go over a railroad line (immediately), over a creek and then straight over a cross-roads with lights. The next intersection is a T, turn right onto NY79 (W) and go over the bridge across the inlet. IMMEDIATELY over the bridge, turn left (S) onto Floral Ave. (NY13A) which runs along the side of the inlet (water). You are now on the final approach.
From the East. From Albany take I88 south to Bainbridge and then cut over to Whitney Point on 206 and then get onto NY79 (W). Coming from the south on I81 take the Whitney Point exit and follow signs to NY79 (W). It takes about 40min on NY79 to get from Whitney Point to Ithaca. As you enter Ithaca you'll head downhill toward "downtown". At the bottom of the hill the road splits and you should follow NY79 around to the right and through town on Seneca St. Keep following NY79 over NY13 (S), NY13 (N) and then over a railroad line. Go over the railroad line, over a creek and then straight over a cross-roads with lights. The next intersection is a T, turn right onto NY79 (W) and go over the bridge across the inlet. IMMEDIATELY over the bridge, turn left (S) onto Floral Ave. (NY13A) which runs along the side of the inlet (water). You are now on the final approach.
Final approach. Drive south along NY 13A (Floral Ave.) past some houses next to the road on the right, my driveway is the first after these. There is a bright green-with-large-yellow-spots mailbox with 274 on it and the driveway goes steeply up into the trees. Both the driveway and mailbox are somewhat hidden by trees so drive slowly after the houses stop. There are several parking spaces up the driveway but you can also park on some gravel spaces on the other side of Floral Ave.. The parking space opposite are likely a good option in winter!
