2.5/4  "Offers a gentle summer fantasy for both grown-ups and little ones."
-- Jeffrey M. Anderson, SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER

1.5/5  "With its paint fights, motorized scooter chases and dewy-eyed sentiment, it's a pretty listless collection of kid-movie clichés."
-- Jason Anderson, EYE WEEKLY

2.25/4  "A strong first quarter, slightly less so second quarter, and average second half."
-- Ross Anthony, HOLLYWOOD REPORT CARD

B-  "While the plot follows a predictable connect-the-dots course... director John Schultz colors the picture in some evocative shades."
-- Sean Axmaker, SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER

3/4  "Bow's best moments are when he's getting busy on the basketball court because that's when he really scores."
-- Sandra Barrera, LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS

C-  "Hollywood's answer to an air ball."
-- Rick Bentley, FRESNO BEE

2.5/5  "Like Mike is a winner for kids, and no doubt a winner for Lil Bow Wow, who can now add movies to the list of things he does well."
-- Liz Braun, JAM! MOVIES

"Like Mike isn't going to make box office money that makes Michael Jordan jealous, but it has some cute moments, funny scenes, and hits the target audience (young Bow Wow fans) - with nothing but net."
-- Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone, THEMOVIECHICKS.COM

2.5/4  "It is ridiculous, of course... but it is also refreshing, disarming, and just outright enjoyable despite its ridiculousness."
-- Michael Elliott, MOVIE PARABLES

3/4  "Like Mike is a harmlessly naïve slice of b-ball fantasy, fit for filling in during the real NBA's off-season."
-- Marc Fortier, REEL.COM

7/10  "An agreeable summertime crowd-pleaser, especially if the crowd includes a lot of 5-to 15-year-olds who enjoy sports."
-- Jack Garner, ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE

1/5  "...a low rate Annie featuring some kid who can't act, only echoes of Jordan, and weirdo actor Crispin Glover screwing things up old school."
-- Bob Grimm, LAS VEGAS MERCURY

3/5  "Like Mike is what feel-good family movies are meant to be. It aims its humour and pathos at children without excluding adults."
-- Louis B. Hobson, JAM! MOVIES

3/4  "An efficient, exceedingly likable family film about orphans and sports that comes with equal doses of sentimentality, corny jokes and life lessons."
-- Joe Baltake, SACRAMENTO BEE

3/4  "Armed with a game supporting cast, from the pitch-perfect Forster to the always hilarious Meara and Levy, Like Mike shoots and scores, doing its namesake proud."
-- Mack Bates, MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

3/4  "Like Mike isn't interested in recycling old cliches. It wants to tweak them with a taste of tangy new humor."
-- Rob Blackwelder, SPLICEDWIRE

1/4  "It’s a terrible movie in every regard, and utterly painful to watch."
-- David Cornelius, AMAZING COLOSSAL WEBSITE

"Affable if not timeless, Like Mike raises some worthwhile themes while delivering a wholesome fantasy for kids."
-- Daniel Eagan, FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL

C+  "A movie for 11-year-old boys with sports dreams of their own and the preteen girls who worship Lil' Bow Wow."
-- Marshall Fine, JOURNAL NEWS

1/5  "I've seen some bad singer-turned actors, but Lil Bow Wow takes the cake."
-- Blake French, NUTZWORLD

5/10  "Kid-friendly."
-- Susan Granger, WWW.SUSANGRANGER.COM

3/4  "Unlike most movies for children, Like Mike was made with care."
-- Chris Hewitt, ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS

2/5  "It takes a strange kind of laziness to waste the talents of Robert Forster, Anne Meara, Eugene Levy, and Reginald VelJohnson all in the same movie."
-- Jim Lane, SACRAMENTO NEWS & REVIEW

Hot Pick
1/5  "Like Mike is a slight and uninventive movie: Like the exalted Michael Jordan referred to in the title, many can aspire but none can equal."
-- Marjorie Baumgarten, AUSTIN CHRONICLE

Cream of the Crop
ROTTEN 46%
Avg. Rating: 6/10
1.5/4  "A soulless jumble of ineptly assembled cliches and pabulum that plays like a 95-minute commercial for NBA properties."
-- James Berardinelli, JAMES BERARDINELLI'S REELVIEWS

3/4  "In the long, dishonorable history of quickie teen-pop exploitation, Like Mike stands out for its only partly synthetic decency."
-- Ty Burr, BOSTON GLOBE

2/4  "Pleasant but not more than recycled jock piffle."
-- Mike Clark, USA TODAY

3/4  "The movie overcomes its lack or originality in the setup by making good use of its central idea, that a pair of sneakers could make a kid into an NBA star."
-- Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

C-  "Barely gets off the ground."
-- Owen Gleiberman, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

"A valueless kiddie paean to pro basketball underwritten by the NBA."
-- Mark Holcomb, VILLAGE VOICE

  "Slick piece of cross-promotion."
-- Ann Hornaday, WASHINGTON POST

3/4  "Like Mike doesn't win any points for originality. It does succeed by following a feel-good formula with a winning style, and by offering its target audience of urban kids some welcome role models and optimism."
-- Loren King, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

"As with too many studio pics, plot mechanics get in the way of what should be the lighter-than-air adventure."
-- Robert Koehler, VARIETY

2/4  "It's not so much a movie as a joint promotion for the National Basketball Association and teenaged rap and adolescent poster-boy Lil' Bow Wow."
-- Liam Lacey, GLOBE AND MAIL

3/4  "It helps that Lil Bow Wow ... tones down his pint-sized gangsta act to play someone who resembles a real kid."
-- Josh Larsen, SUN PUBLICATIONS (CHICAGO, IL)
