A Provost Diversity Fellowship has been awarded to Ana Smith, doctoral candidate in Computer Science. Provost Diversity Fellowship recipients are also among those recognized as Graduate School Dean’s Scholars. "The core purpose of the prestigious distinction of Dean’s Scholar is to develop a community of diverse scholars through which connections are established and maintained across all graduate fields." Smith has also received a Cornell Colman Fellowship and served as a Fulbright Scholar in South Korea, where she worked with Alice Oh in her lab at KAIST.

In her doctoral studies in Natural Language Processing, Smith is advised by Lillian Lee, Charles Roy Davis Professor of Computer Science and Information Science. Smith focuses on dialogue, group coordination, and constructive language.
