CS undergraduate Hooyeon (Haden) Lee received a Cisco-underwritten undergraduate research award from Cornell Engineering's Engineering Learning Initiative. The award will provide a stipend for his work on "Scalability in games and simulations", advised by Johannes Gehrke.
Two ECE students working on "Personal Robot: Manipulation", advised by Ashutosh Saxena, also received an award from the ELI competition.
In the 2010 CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award competition, all three of Cornell's nominees were honored!
Christina Brandt received an honorable mention for the Female Award. Andrew Owens was a finalist for the Male Award. Di Wang was one of two runner-ups for the Male Award: his citation is here:

Communications of the ACM published "Predicting Structured Objects with Support Vector Machines" by Thorsten Joachims, Thomas Hofmann, Yisong Yue, and Chun-Nam Yu as a Research Highlight (with Technical Perspective by John Shawe-Taylor).
Robbert van Renesse was selected as a Fellow of the ACM. The Fellows induction ceremony will take place on June 26, 2010, in San Francisco.
John Hopcroft and Jeff Ullman (Stanford) share this year's IEEE John von Neumann Medal "For laying the foundations for the fields of automata and language theory and many seminal contributions to theoretical computer science."

Andrew Myers, Fred Schneider, and Nate Foster have received a grant from the Office of Naval Research for their project, "A Platform for Building and Composing Secure Federated Systems."
Christoph Koch has been selected to receive a Google Research award for his proposal, "Youtopia: an active collaborative data management system."
Christoph Koch will also be PC co-chair of the 27th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE 2011) in Hannover, Germany.
