A Special Masters degree in Computer Science is available to Ph.D. students in a field of science or engineering*.

Requirements:

2. The student must have a Computer Science field member on his/her special committee

3. Knowledge of CS 211 and  CS 312 and CS 414/415.

6. Passing an A-exam in a field of science or engineering.

7. Special Master's Approval Form

Administration:

It is the responsibility of the student's special committee to ensure that the requirements are satisfied.  The CS committee member will generally expect grades of B+ or better in all coursework and a suitable demonstration of understanding at the A-exam.  (It is not necessary for all course requirements to be satisfied at the time of the A-exam)

Changes in the requirements require the unanimous approval of the special committee.

When the special committee agrees that the requirements have been satisfied, the approval form should be filled out and a copy submitted to the Computer Science Graduate Office in 4126 Upson Hall.

* These rules take effect for students starting the Special Masters program in Fall 2002. Earlier, the degree was only available for Math and Applied Math students. For students who started previously, and are interested in the earlier rules, please go to the CS Grad Office, 4126 Upson.
