The M.Eng. "Early-Admission" Option for Cornell Undergraduates

Cornell undergraduates may take advantage of our Early Admission option to the M.Eng. program. This option allows a student to begin work towards an M.Eng. degree before completing his/her undergraduate degree.

  • Typically, an Early Admit student will start the M.Eng. program in the second term of their senior year which allows them to work towards finishing their undergraduate degree while earning credit towards their M.Eng. degree.
  • Any M.Eng. credit eligible courses taken which are not applied to the bachelor's degree can be counted towards M.Eng. degree requirements.
  • Students admitted into the M.Eng. Program as an Early Admit student will need to complete their undergrad degree at the end of the first semester enrolled in the program. Early Admit students must finish all undergrad requirements while registered with their undergrad college.
  • Early Admit students maintain their undergraduate while completing their degree requirements and are "bridged" over to the Graduate School to complete the M.Eng. Degree requirements.
  • No courses taken prior to beginning the M.Eng. program as an early admit will count towards the M.Eng. degree, even if a student does not need the course to fulfill an undergrad requirement.

  • Have at least one but no more than eight credits remaining to complete your undergraduate degree requirements.
  • Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7 or better. Please note that this is a minimum requirement to apply; most admitted applicants have a GPA substantially higher.

Please note that the early admission option is for Cornell undergraduates only. Other applicants should look here for more information on the Cornell CS M.Eng. program.
