Cornell Since its founding in 1868, Cornell University
has recognized the importance of the twin values of research and scholarship.
Interdisciplinary study and research are Cornell hallmarks. Faculty members
are active teachers as well as researchers. The Computer Science department, organized in 1965, is one of the
oldest departments of its kind in the country. It includes 45 full-time
faculty, approximately 120 resident Ph.D. graduate students, 120 M.Eng
students, and graduates about 200 undergraduate Computer Science majors
every year. Masters
of Engineering (M. Eng.) The Computer
Science department admits about 75 M. Eng. applicants each year. This
one-year program is designed to enhance the professional skills of
computer scientists. The flexible curriculum includes 6 graduate-level
courses and a faculty-supervised design project. Ph.D.
Program The Computer Science department
admits about 20-25 Ph.D. candidates each year. A typical Ph.D. program
takes about 5 years to complete. Computer
Graphics Program The program in Computer
Graphics is a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary study.
