Artifact - "Not Impressed, Gump"

Motivation:

Mckayla Maroney Meme: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/mckayla-is-not-impressed

Original Images:

Mckayla Maroney (converted to grayscale)

Forrest Gump and JFK

Procedure:

Step 0. Convert the original color image (not shown) of Maroney to grayscale and scale the image down appropriately to fit in the Gump/JFK image.

Step 1. Using the iScissor application, create a contour around Maroney. Save the resulting mask - this will be used later when compositing.

Step 2. Open the original Gump/JFK image using Gimp. Create a new layer and insert the grayscale image of Maroney. Position her body at the desired location in the image.

Step 3. Add a layer mask to the Maroney layer. Insert the saved image mask (from Step 1) into the layer mask. Below is the result of adding the mask:

Step 4. Remove the suit showing in the background behind Maroney. To do this - create a new layer, copy the wall textures above the suit pieces, and paste on top of the suit to cover it up. Be sure this new layer is in between the original Gump/JFK image and the Maroney masked image.

In order to make Maroney appear behind Gump and JFK, use the brush tool and paint over the handshake in the layer mask with black.

Step 5. The last step is to clean up the edges of the composited image. This is done by applying a gaussian blur to the layer mask.
