The Original Image

When I was looking for images of politicians, I happened upon a site with pictures of Mitt Romney standing on things (boxes, tables, chairs, etc.). When I saw this particular image, the look on his face in this image reminded me of a deer in headlights. So I thought to myself, what could he possibly be afraid of? What could strike this kind of fear into the hearts of men? Well, it happened to be the first Sunday of the NFL season, so my obvious conclusion was an NFL linebacker. Looking forward to what comes next? You must be a Democrat...

The Overlay Image

After furiously searching various terms such as "football tackle", "NFL tackle", and "crazy tackle" I happened upon this image that I thought was as good as I was going to find. The Texans' Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Cushing would make anybody look as afraid as Romney does.

Tackle

I implemented the brush feature in my version of iScissors, so I hastily outlined Brian with a size 15 brush to enforce boundaries on the scissor tool. The result of my brushing and cutting out is this mask below.

The Composite Image

I then imported all 3 images into Photoshop, where I used the mask to cut Brian out of his original image. I feathered the selection before applying it because the mask was aliased, and therefore had jagged edges. I then sharpened Brian a little and inserted him into the picture of Mitt Romney, adjusting the scale so that he didn't look gargantuan. Lining Brian up with Romney's legs looked a little weird, so I used Photoshop's warp tool to bend Romney's legs to make it look more like Brian was actually tackling him. I also brushed on Brian's shadow. You can see the results below!
