To have some prehistoric fun with this project, we started with this image of a T-Rex. (

Using the scissors tool, I cut out the middle of the image, creating this mask.
I then obtained an appropriate location image to place the dinosaur within. (

Using the mask, I retrieved the image of the dinosaur within Photoshop. I cleaned up the edges, placed the dinosaur into the larger image, and removed the parts that should be hidden. After some extra shadows and some effects with level curves, this was the final result:
