Announcements concerning the final exam (CS322, Spring 2003)

The final exam is Wed., May 14, 3-5:30, Ives 305. An
8.5-by-11 one-page cribsheet
written on both sides is permitted. Other than the cribsheet, the exam is
closed note, closed book, no calculators. You must bring student ID
to the final.

The makeup for the final exam is Friday, May 16, 3-5:30, location
TBA. You must have prior permission from the instructor to take the
makeup exam. You must ask for permission by
Friday, May 2. Permission to take the makeup exam will granted if
- You have a conflict with another final,
- You have some other official university excuse, or
- You have three or more finals (including the
CS322 final) in a single 24-hour period. You should bring a printout
of your current course enrollment if you want to take the makeup on
this basis.

If you miss both the main and makeup final for a compelling
reason,
then you will get an incomplete for the course, and there will be
a makeup given sometime in Fall '03 or Spring '04.

If you take the makeup exam, then there may be a delay in getting your
course grade posted with registrar and on your transcript.

The TA's and instructor will have office hours before the final as
follows. The instructor office hours are in 493 Rhodes, and the TA office
hours are in 328C Upson.

There will be two review sessions for the final as follows:
May 8, 6-7 pm, UP B17, led by the TAs
and May 13, 6-7 pm, UP B17, led by the instructor.

The solutions to the practice final will be covered by the May 8
review session.

To collect your graded problem set 6, please go to your TA's office hours
during study break. As of May 7, PS6 is graded, the scores are posted on
CMS, and the papers may be picked up.
You had the option for PS6 to be returned
to you in an unsupervised
box in Upson 303 if you wrote and signed the following statement
on the front page of your paper (both partners must have signed!):
I (We) request that this paper be returned to me (us) in a unsupervised
box in Upson 303.
My (our) right to privacy of my (our) graded paper
granted by FERPA of 1974 is hereby waived.

All regrade requests for all work in the course except PS6 and the final exam
must be handed in by Friday, May 2. PS6 regrade requests must be handed
in by May 9. Problem set regrade requests should be given to your
section TA,
and prelim regrade requests should be given to the instructor.

Please verify all your scores up through PS5 in CMS before the end of
this week.

Final exam scores and final
grades will not be sent by email. They can be retrieved from
CMS. (Note: this is the first time that the instructor is using
CMS to post course grades, so there is a possibility of delays or
glitches.)

As of 9pm, 5/18, final exam scores and grades are posted on CMS.
Currently, grades are posted as an assignment
called "Course Letter Grades" using a
numeric code: 4.3=A+, 4=A, 3.7=A-, 3.3=B+, 3=B, 2.7=B-, 2.3=C+,
2=C, 1.7=C-, 1=D, 0=F.

You can pick up your graded final exam during the instructor's office
hours as follows.

Regrading of the final exam will be considered only for the
case of miscopied scores or addition errors.

All uncollected
homework, prelims, and final exams must be picked up before September 15,
2003
else they will be discarded.
