Project

The Make3D project has developed algorithms that can convert a single still image into a 3D model. See: http://make3d.cs.cornell.edu. The code is currently written in Matlab, and is available at: http://make3d.cs.cornell.edu/code_linux.html.

The goal of this project is to create production quality code that takes an image as input and produces a 3D model. The code will be written in openCV/Lapack/C++. It should be released on the Internet as an open source system with suitable licenses and provision for extensions. The initial release should be written as a free standing application, but structured so that in future improvements can be done to the software.

The client writes that there is considerable demand for this application as there are many 3D display devices, but there is a lack of the ability to create 3D content.
