Centralized multicast
Status Potential topic for an MEng project (coordinate with Snorri Gylfason)		Multicast routing algorithms are currently distributed, adding to the burden of already overloaded routers. The idea here is to centralize route computation and to insert multicast forwarding entries in routers. This also allows QoS routing, or even simplified unicast routing, if topology can be quickly discovered. The goal of the project is to come up with a detailed spec for centralized multicast, understand its implications, and simulate it in some detail to understand its performance.
