Design NotesCardboard BoxesThe first part of this CS130 assignment called for a site that will persuade a cardboard box company to hire us to design their website. To achieve this, we created our own "company" site that gives information on our services and mission. We also included our portfolio (past CS 130 and individual projects) to give the cardboard box company an idea of our style and to legitimize our claims. We put the actual cardboard box propsoal under current bids and included a brief prospectus along with a sample site done in Flash. I did not implement much on the sample site because in the real world, a web design company will not use a lot of resources to create a full-scale site when the project has not yet been delegated. Instead, winning bids is a result of past performance, sample work, and personnel. We tried to simulate what a web design company may do. Project of ChoiceFor the second part of the assignment, I decided to do my engagement site (Engagement Page) can be found under the portfolio section of this site. I chose not to do my engagement page in flash because many of the people who will be accessing it are family who are not very computer literate. To avoid confusion, I eliminated the need to download a plugin and focused more on making it user-friendly and functional. However, to spice it up for those who are more familiar with the web, I did my flash requirement as the intro to this site. |
