ASTRO

The objective of ASTRO is to build a fully autonomous landing vehicle (ALV) capable of landing softly frojm and altitude that demonstates full functionality of all subsystems.
All subsystems will be designed and implemented by student team members under the advice of faculty mentors.

The ASTRO team was founded by a group of Cornell students interested in gaining experience in the design and building of aerospace vehicles. It was felt that there was no activity at Cornell University that would allow students to gain practical skills in aerospace engineering. The ASTRO team was formed, and is currently one of only a few student research groups dedicated to practical applications of aerospace engineering.

The ASTRO team philosophy is to provide an environment where students can learn through a combination of theoretical research and hands-on experimentation. This philosophy is motivated by our desire to enjoy the process of learning about aerospace systems at a level beyond undergraduate coursework.
