Research application using 3D full body Scanning in Apparel

Damien Raymond

The development of 3D scanners capable of collecting information on the
full body has created new opportunities for the apparel industry. The
area where the more effective use of 3D body scan data is possible is the
development of methods to analyze and characterize anthropometric
information. By doing statistical research over a large number of people, we can
help the apparel industry defining a sizing schema, better than the actual S,
M, L, XL. The 3D scanner is the tools that makes such an analysis feasible.
