Presentation Guidelines
Instructions to Presenters

Each entry will be presented via (1) a web site which will be viewable for an extended period of time and (2) a poster session on the afternoon of February 23, 2000.

We ask that you send the url for your web site to karla@cs.cornell.edu as soon as it is ready and before February 21, 2000.

Your website should begin with a very brief introductory paragraph that describes your project before going into further detail. Examples of websites detailing projects from a similar forum can be viewed at CS Fair '97, BOOM '98, and BOOM '99.  You may continue to modify your site after submitting the url to us.

For the poster session, have ready a brief (not more than 5 minute) verbal explanation of the project that you can give to those stopping by your poster. Computer demos are encouraged but not required.

In order to demo your work, it is best if you can bring in your own computer. However if that does not work for you, please contact us and we will try to arrange something for you. It may be useful to keep in mind that because of the multidisciplinary nature of the fair, the viewers of the poster session will have varied technical backgrounds. Handouts describing your project are fine if you want to bring them. The poster should be on poster board of size at most 32" x 40". Poster board can be bought at the campus store. Again, there should be a brief overview of the project given in a very visible location somewhere on the poster. There are many examples of posters in the fourth floor of Upson outside 4108

If you need to safely store things at Upson on the day of February 23, you may leave them at the Computer Science Department office (4130 Upson) starting at 8:30 am.  You should plan to arrive at 3:00 pm on the 23rd if you have a computer or presentation to set up. Otherwise, arrive by 4 pm. These are not hard deadlines, if you have a class to attend then it is fine to come late.  Bring: a poster (on posterboard) and handouts (optional).  We will provide easels and any other equipment agreed upon in advance.
