Cornell teams very strong at ACM Programming Contest

Cornell's teams, coached by Ph.D. student Lars Backstrom, put in a very strong showing at the ACM Regional Collegiate Programming Contest. They took #2, #3, and #5 in a field of 58 teams, besting multiple teams from Princeton, Columbia, and Yale, among others.

The Cornell teams were:
second place: Nitin Gupta, Anand Bhaskar, Michael Cheng
third place: Hooyeon Lee, Yisong Yue, Vivek Maharajh
fifth place: Ymir Vigfusson, Dustin Lee Harber, Changxi Zheng

Standings can be found at:

Incidentally, the director for the Greater New York Regional Programming Contest is Adam Florence, CUCS Ph.D. '01, a former coach for Cornell teams himself.

Congratulations to the teams and coach!
