Research positions
Cornell seeks to fill a 2- or 3-year post-doctoral research position in resilient cloud computing, or on distributed computing in an application area such as electronic medical records, banking or the smart power grid, under the direction of Ken Birman and Robbert van Renesse. A successful applicant will have a PhD on a topic in distributed computing, networks, or a closely related area, with a depth of research and publications documenting unusual ability and a unique perspective on reliability for the cloud and for networks supporting the cloud. Responsibilities will be focused on conducting research with the Cornell resilient cloud computing effort, travel to scientific conferences and funding-agency workshops and meetings, and supervision of some student projects, notably at the MEng level. We encourage our post-docs to develop and pursue a relatively independent research track, but one that compliments and strengths our core efforts and that matches well with our funding sources.
