Love it or hate it I've read a bunch of these reviews and talked to a lot of people. People seem to love or hate this car. My wife loves the looks. I think it looks OK but it cramped inside. As far as reliability... We've owned the car (1999 Laredo) e year next week. This week in goes into the shop to get the fuel pump replaced for the second time. We've had the rotors replaced, a power window motor replaced, a circuit board replaced and it was recalled once for an emission problem; all for a total of about 12 days in the shop.

Shame on Chrysler from San Jose, CA, Mar 19, 2000

Shame On Chrysler My wife and I are quite please with the overall comfort and driveability of the JGC. However, the JGC is plagued with design and relialility issues. Further, Chrysler dealers are both unwilling and unmotivated to fix major inherent problems. Our vehicles alignment pulls hard to the right, and Chrysler states 'within spec'. In addition, our JGC makes a violent 'CLUNK' whenever shifted into reverse, and sometimes when shifting from first to second gear (this cannot be good for the transmission). The vehicle is 'hard to start' on rare occasion (beginning with 5,000 miles). In addition, the paint is of poor quality, and stands up poorly to the elements (at 12,000 miles). The vehicle left me stranded within the first 100-miles, due to a failed vacuum sensor and computer. Do yourself a favor and avoid this vehicle. Worst of all Chrysler Dealers are trained to play 'DUMB', rather than invest in the proper repairs.

Our company purchased three new Jeeps. Truck looks great but a real headache. (Looks don't pay the bills)Bunch of small electrical problems and nothing but problems shifting from 2wheel to 4wheel (Is taken off road about 32hrs a week). Would look at getting some other vehicle if given the chance.

Bought a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited, V8, 4x4. The most unreliable car I've ever owned. Took it to the shop over 15 times the first 6,000 miles. Radiator leaks, alignment problems, power window failures, transmission noises, paint & finish problems. Not only was the car bad, the dealership was clueless. The dealer finally "lost" my car. It was stolen from them. The insurance paid-off, now I'm back into a BMW.

GC Blues

This is my second GC, I got it with the works (4.7, Quadra Drive, etc.) The car has been in the shop approx. 1 a month since its purchase. Many repairs are for the same problem. If you want Quadra Drive, talk to other owners first!

Poor Quality/Dealer Repairs

Chrysler doesn't back their warranties and their dealer network is pathetic when it comes to making repairs. Their standard response to any problem is "it's normal". Normal that your brake rotors warp after 2500 miles? Normal that the transmission jerks the car when you stop? I don't think so.

The worst vehicle I have ever owned... Problems ranging from metallic rattles to fluid leaks to differentials needing replacement. Many of the issues began to surface at less than 1000 miles and still are an issue 20 K miles later ! The last Chrysler product I will ever own.

Chrysler Bites

I have a JGC Limited 4wd v8 loaded and its a love hate relationship. I love the look and feel of driving it, but I hate having one problem after another with it. It has visited the service department every 6 months since I got it. It is almost like new. Literally, new water pump, new rear wiper, and a totally rebuilt transmission from front to rear. The service departments are the worst, in that they, never want to help (unless it is early Monday morning), don't believe your complaint, make you drop it off, never finish in one day, never call to let you know what is going on, and sometimes never fix the problem. There is absolutely no kind of customer service and they don't listen to your complaints. Their is no dealer loyalty from one to the other. They are all independently owned and will only honor parts and not poor workmanship.

Love/ Hate Relationship

My wife and I have a love hate relationship with our 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee with v8. It is loaded with almost everthing; as close to a Limited as possible. I love the style and the interior, but the mechanical repairs have been unbelieveable. It is so close to technically being a lemon! We have had replaced/ fixed up to now w/ only 10,500 miles: Tie rods because of oversteer; some piece of the drive shaft, since it felt like some one bumped us everytime we stopped when the car would jolt forward, an engine idle that stalls, driver window motor that burned out and the brake rotors replaced. It is going back in for some of the same stuff tomorrow. Conceptually the car is great but the delivery is malpractice! If you buy one, just make sure you drive it before you buy it. Don't buy it if alread

JEEP = JOKE/JUNK!!!!

now own a '99 Grand Cherokee-and what a joke of a vehicle it is-in the shop more than i drive it-computer problems, software replaced and STILL problems, steering problems, rotors replaced two times, brake problems and the list goes on and on-the transmission has been in the shop seven times to be repaired now, and still the problems have not been resolved-this vehicle is a piece of crap!!! if they ever fix it properly, we are trading it in AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND YOU CAN BET OUR NEW VEHICLE WILL NOT BE A JEEP!!

Lacks Quality

I have a '99 JGC Laredo, loaded, V8, Sunroof, QD. With 7k miles it's been to the shop twice to fix the radiator fan and vibrating engine. This V8 has the right amount of power but it runs very rouph. Mine misses and couphs at times, all which the dealer says is normal for this engine. The transmission also downshifts hard enouph to bob your head when coming to a stop. Dealer also says this is normal. The new QD/Quadra Trak2 system doesn't perform as well as expected. Spec sheets say the wheel with most traction will get the torque after minimal slippage. Not true, I have to spin up to 15-20mph before the other wheels engage. Gas mileage is great under 65mph. Above 65mph it goes from 19 to 14. Anyone else have these problems?

Well designed . . . poorly made

We loved everything about our '99 Grand Cherokee Ltd. 6cyl. 4WD . . . that is until we started driving it. We are just under 10K miles and have had to repair warped brake rotors, replace the fuel pump, and repair a rain leak at the front window seal. And we are tame drivers . . . I can only imagine how bad it would be if we were real SUVr's. I'm sorry to say that we won't be keeping this vehicle past the warranty.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

I've had Cherokees for 12 years (500K miles). This model has a problem with warping front brake rotors which the others did not. Maker says this is "normal". Probably my last Cherokee.
