Statler Auditorium, 8pm

Nominated for several Grammys in recent years, internationally-renowned pianist Marc-André Hamelin performs everything from the virtuoso compositions of Albeniz to all the standard concertos and sonatas. Playing with "intelligence, virtuosity and daring" (San Francisco Chronicle), Hamelin's program includes the Busoni transcription of the Bach D minor Chaconne, the Schumann Fantasiestüke, part of the Alkan solo piano Symphony, and excerpts from his own "Con Intimissimo Sentimento". Jessica Duchen of International Piano Magazine says, "With Hamelin around, who needs Horowitz?"
