CS 100: Old Announcements

(Back)

Course Announcements: (most recent first)
July 16: Update to Assignment 4: new Spaceship.java file available. In addition, you must implement a getLocation() method for your Planet class, that returns a Position object that indicates the Planet's position. Then you can use .equals() to test, e.g., whether a Spaceship's location is the same as a Planet's. See the newspost for more details.

Also, see the newsgroup for a list of prelim topics.

July 14: The solutions and grading guide to Prelim 1 have been posted (to the Syllabus page, for Monday 7/9). Take a look and make sure you understand the correct solutions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us!
Note: Spaceship.java for assignment 4 has been updated. Download the new version from the Assignments page.

July 10: The Assignment 3 handout and the .java files have changed in minor ways. See the newsgroup for more information, and download (at least) the new .java files from the Assignments page.

July 9: I hope you all did well on the prelim this morning! This announcement is just to clarify that due to lack of interest in my office hours, they are changing, location, but not time. I will be moving up to my fourth floor office so I won't fall asleep waiting for someone to visit :) The room is 4104. Check the Staff area for the update. Thanks, and sorry for any confusion. - b

July 4: Boy, I hope I don't get in trouble with Kiri for posting an announcement here. Happy 4th of July, I hope you're all enjoying the holiday. As for me, I just finished writing up those String files I promised. You can find them on the Links section of the website. Please take some time to read them over. They are very well commented (in my opinion) and have some useful information in them. In addition, there are some updates to the Assignments page concerning Assignment 1 solutions. Feel free to check out the posted solutions and let me know if you have any questions about them. - b

July 3: Reminder: Prelim 1 is on Monday, 7/9.
For Assignment 2, use the bar command in MATLAB, not hist.
Also, see the newsgroup post "Assignment 2 bug (and its fix)" for information about a small change to the algorithm description in PrimeNumbers.java.
Office and consulting hours for Wednesday are moving to Thursday (this week only).

June 27: You are responsible for reading the course newsgroup; announcements will show up there in more detail and in a more timely fashion. Do it, it's fun!
Assignment 2 will be handed out on July 2 (instead of June 29).

June 26: Lecture notes are posted on the Syllabus page. Do check them; examples we work on in lecture will also show up there. Note: Sada will be consulting on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m., this week only.

June 25: First day of class! Be sure to check this page frequently for any updates. Note: Kiri will be out of town on June 29, so her Friday office hour will move to Thursday, June 28, from 11:30 to 12:30.
